NEWS FOR EVERYONE
Saturday, April 20: CORBA Trail Restoration with Lunch.
Come out and help build and fix up the trails we love to ride! It feels great to ride a trail you've helped build and maintain. For more information, visit the CORBA Trail Crew page. Work days usually last until about 2:00. Be sure to wear suitable clothing (sturdy shoes, long pants and sleeves, hat, GLOVES) and bring snacks, sunscreen and WATER. CORBA will provide the tools and training.
Remember that CORBA treats volunteers to lunch after the event who register beforehand! Further info on the trailwork can be found on the online registration page (see below). Pre-registration is greatly appreciated because it helps CORBA know how many tools to bring, and to plan how much work can be done.
CORBA's lunch will be after trailwork ends, so bring along a snack to tide you over!
Meeting location and full details are shown on the online registration page, below. Time: 8:30 am.
Crags Road, also known as "The Rock Garden" or "The Creek of Doom," suffered major blows this winter, first by the Woolsey Fire that decimated the hillsides, then rainstorms that tore the trail up pretty badly and covered parts with rock slides. We worked on this section not far from the M*A*S*H site in November 2017 (see photo above) and now we're going back to fix it again.
Help us plan by registering online so we'll know how volunteers to expect: https://www.meetup.com/CORBAmtb/events/259311989/
Directions: Meet in the dirt parking area for Reagan Ranch in Malibu Creek State Park. We'll shuttle to the work site from there.
From the 101 freeway in Agoura, exit at Kanan Rd and turn south. Drive 0.4 miles before turning left onto Cornell Way, then continue straight onto Cornell Rd. After 2.2 miles, cross Mulholland Hwy (onto Lake Vista Dr) and take the first left. Park in the lot at the left.

Saturday, April 27: Santa Monica Mountains Trail Days, BBQ & Camping in Sycamore Canyon.
Once a year we have an opportunity to help restore the trails and then BBQ and camp at Danielson Multiuse Area in Sycamore Canyon. It is opened annually for the Santa Monica Mountains Trail Days! This is a unique opportunity to work on the trails that we enjoy so much in Sycamore Canyon followed by a BBQ, prizes, and camping on Friday and/or Saturday night. In past years a bunch of us worked on the trails, took in the BBQ, etc. and than camped in the quiet heart of the canyon. The drawing was fabulous, everyone won at least one prize and there was lots of cool stuff! Enjoying a cold beer after the trail work under the sycamore and oak trees with the breeze blowing through the canyon while the BBQ is cooking, what a treat! This is hands down the best day to get in your trail maintenance work! You can help with the trailwork on Saturday and/or Sunday. Camping is optional, you may leave with the escort after the BBQ. Following is the info from the Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council that hosts the event. TRAIL DAYS is a weekend for individuals and groups to build new trails and restore old ones. Partners with California State Parks include Concerned Off Road Bicyclist Assn. (CORBA), Santa Monica Mountains Task Force of Sierra Club, Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council, California Native Plant Society (CNPS), National Park Service, and others.

WEEKEND RIDES
Saturday, April 6: Ahamanson to Ireland.
We’ll start with a fireroad climb up to Lasky Mesa and ride a big loop around the mesa before taking a fun singletrack down to the canyon floor. Then we’ll head down the canyon and cutoff on another very fun singletrack loop on Coyote. From here we’ll head up Las Virgenes Cyn to another fabulous singletrack loop that will give you a seratonin buzz for sure. Now we’ll climb a few miles up Las Virgenes Cyn to another singletrack that leads up to Bell Cyn Ridge. After a short road ride we’ll catch the trail again and climb up a pretty steep switchback fireroad to the Ireland trailhead. Ireland is one of my favorite singletracks and I’m certain you will have a silly grin on your face at the bottom! Lol! From here we’ll climb another singletrack back up to the top of Lasky Mesa and ride a combination of fireroads and singletrack back to the cars.
Meet at 9:00 am and be ready to depart 15 minutes later.
