WEEKEND RIDES
Saturday, March 3: Caballero/Roger's Rd/Rustic Cyn/Sullivan Cyn/Farmers.
We begin with a moderate to fairly difficult climb up the Caballero singletrack to dirt Mulholland. From here it is a moderate climb on fireroads up to the hub and onto a fun singletrack that leads to Roger's Road. We will proceed along Roger's Road, a moderate singletrack, past the Oak Tree and cut off onto Josepho drop (J-drop), a rocky/rutted singletrack which drops us out in Rustic Canyon. We'll climb out of Rustic Canyon and head up a short paved segment of the Sullivan fireroad. Then we'll cut off onto and climb the Rustic Ridge singletrack which leads us back again to the Sullivan fireroad. From here we head downhill over to Squirrel Cage dropping us into Sullivan Canyon. We will climb out of the canyon to Mulholland and take the Farmers singletrack over to the top of Caballero. Then it's a fun descent down Caballero and the cars. We take this out to the split at the Sheep Corral Trail where we stop and rest a bit before turning around. We return on the N Las Virgines Cyn Access Road climb that turns into a fun double track downhill. As we head back to the start we take a semi-hidden weaving singletrack and then complete our final major climb to the Lasky Mesa, then enjoying the Mary Weisbrock Loop Trail to find our way to a singletrack back down to the main fire road and return to the start.

Sunday, March 25: 30th Anniversary Picnic.
Come join us to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the NRMB. It was back in March of 1988 when we had our first ride. Our ride on March 2nd will retrace the first ride from 30 years ago. We started with a few riders and slowly they dropped out leaving only Mike Miskinis and Randy Rogers to make it all the way to North Ranch (our namesake).
After the ride we will meet up at the beautiful Oak Canyon Community Park. We will have a picnic and see a movie History of the NRMB, a DVD showing 30 years of photos.
Tell all your friends whoever rode with the NRMB be it hundreds of times or only once. Even if that one time was 25 years ago, come out and ride as far as you like. If you can only do a small part of the ride or can't ride at all, still come out for the picnic. Come celebrate with the largest oldest and best mountain bike club in California.
The picnic at the park should start around 12:30pm. Following are the directions to only the picnic (this is not where the ride begins...don't show up here to start the ride...the ride starts at Cheeseboro!)
Directions: From the 101 Fwy and exit at Kanan Rd and turn North (away from the ocean). Proceed approx 2.7 miles and turn right on Hollytree Drive. Immediately turn left into Oak Canyon Community Park. Don't park in the first lot which is immediately to your left (that is the duck pond), drive up a bit and park in the next parking lot on your left near the bathrooms.
Saturday, March 31: Brown Mountain Dam for Advanced Beginners.
We start with an easy counter-clockwise trip around the watershed, then get into the Arroyo Seco canyon proper as we start up the Gabrioleno trail. It starts out paved, then turns to fireroad, then double track, then singletrack. The further up we get, the more fun and technical it becomes. Think of the rock garden leading to the MASH set in Malibu Creek for comparison. Overall more rideable, but with hike-a-bike sections for everyone. Also lots of stream crossings. We'll take a break at the dam, then double back down for a quicker run back down the trail. When we arrive back at the watershed, we'll continue counter-clockwise around the park, with JPL on our right. A brief encounter with a sandy wash, and we're back to the parking lot. Meet at 9:00 am and be ready to depart 15 minutes later.
